Our Mission

Impacting God’s Kingdom by sharing the Gospel with the incarcerated and discipling them through correspondence Bible studies.

We Believe in God

We believe in the sovereignty of the Triune God: Father, Son, Holy Ghost. He is all-knowing and all-powerful. He is also all-loving. He alone is worthy of all praise, honor, and glory. We know that the Bible is the Word of God. In it, we are given commands of how to glorify God and become His disciples.

We Believe in Making Disciples

All people are sinners, and all people are in need of the grace of Christ. Our mission is to make disciples in prisons. We want to reach the lost with the gospel, teach them to be disciples of Christ, and empower them to continue making disciples in their communities. We achieve this through the distribution of Bibles, gospel tracts, Christian literature, and spiritually edifying Bible studies.

We Believe in God’s Leadership

We believe in being completely obedient to God and His desires for this ministry. We believe in the necessity of prayer in our daily lives. We prioritize Scripture as the true Word of God, and we seek to share that truth with our friends, families, and community. We follow the leading of His Spirit and allow Him to lead each of us in our personal and professional lives. We rely on Him fully to equip and lead our staff and volunteers, so we can continue make new disciples.

Our Program

Leading inmates to Christ is one of our greatest passions. We’ve written a free Bible study called "Who is God?" that invites prisoners to begin a relationship with Christ and get connected with our discipleship program. Together with the Holy Spirit, we then help new believers mature in their faith and make disciples, with two other courses called "Christian Leadership" and "Disciple of Christ."

Financial Stewardship

When you partner financially with Prison Alliance, you are donating to a ministry that puts your dollars to work by making disciples in prisons. We strive to be good stewards of every dollar donated. That means we do everything we can to keep our overhead low so that you are making the greatest impact in the lives of inmates.

In recognition of our compliance with Standards of Responsible Stewardship, Prison Alliance has been accredited by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability. We are “Certified “Transparent” by Excellence in Giving and have been earned a Platinum Seal from Guidestar.

Our Founders

Christian Library International, now Prison Alliance, was founded in 1996 by Kathleen Skaar. She served as the Executive Director until her retirement after twenty-five years of leadership. Prison Alliance began with a focus on providing free Christian books to community centers, shelters, and missionary families. As the ministry grew, Prison Alliance shifted its focus to working with chaplains in correctional facilities to reach inmates with God’s Word.
