Many of our book donors also include a $20 financial gift that offsets the cost of shipping one box of books to a facility. If you would like to help us continue sending free Christian materials to prison chaplains and the inmates they serve, you can include a check or make your donation online.

Just One Book

All it takes is one book to start someone on their path to Christ. We receive letters of gratitude from inmates every week who express how they were encouraged, challenged, and instructed by a book they read from their prison library.

Our stamp is placed inside every cover, inviting inmates to take the next step with Prison Alliance by enrolling in one of our Bible studies. When you donate Christian books, Bibles, and other materials, you are giving resources that help inmates to grow in their faith.

Christian Book Drive

Hosting a Christian Book Drive is an excellent service project for your church, Bible study, or other Christian group. By supplying Christian books and Bibles to inmates, you are taking an active role in prison ministry.

Prison chaplains need resources to continue spreading the gospel. Your partnership is integral to providing them with those resources to give to inmates.

Getting Started

The first step in hosting a book drive is to prayerfully deciding when and where you plan to collect donations.

We recommend the drive lasts four weeks, to make sure the word gets around to everyone who can participate. You should prepare both a collection site and a storage site throughout the collection period.

Spread the Word

During the month leading up to the drive, hang posters, send emails, place an announcement in your church bulletin, and post on social media with information about Prison Alliance and the upcoming book drive.

Please feel free to use these materials or create your own! Don’t forget to tag us on social media with pictures of your book drive.

Collection

Set up your collection area where donors can drop off books and cash donations. Your team should check the box periodically and take some books to a storage area. Cash donations should be kept in a secure location.

At the end of the collection period, sort through and remove damaged materials and those that do not meet our guidelines. After you have sorted out the books, fill out the book donation form and ship the books.
