Divine Intervention - Zach's Story

Prison Inmate Texas Baptism

Chaplain Tip Harris in Texas just sent us this incredible testimony from a young man who is now born again in Christ because of the work you are helping us accomplish at Prison Alliance.

"Back in April of this year, 2022, I received a request for baptism from a young man I did not know. Because of my experience, I said, He isn't’ saved, and doesn’t know the real meaning of water baptism. Most people believe the water somehow gets them into heaven by washing away sin. I looked forward to meeting him.

I had him brought to my visiting area so we could meet. He was 19 and was a personal young man. So many inmates are shy and riddled with guilt to the point of not being able or willing to communicate with a stranger at all, especially one who is wearing a badge. My badge says “chaplain “ on it. I’ve been asked if I was the sheriff, an attorney, the FBI... all sorts of things. I am most happy to say I wear the Cross of Christ on my badge.

So, I asked Zach why he wanted to be baptized. He said he went to court with many charges against him, and he was in fear for his freedom. So, he began to pray in earnest for the Lord to intervene and have mercy on him. Well, God had mercy on Zach and most of his charges were dismissed; therefore, he said there really must be a God and he knew he needed to be saved. Do you see how easy this conversion was? I showed him the scriptures and talked him through them, showing him how God has always loved him and the devil has always hated him. He could work his entire life for one and receive a wage of eternal death in hell. He could serve the other one with his whole heart and receive the free gift of eternal salvation in heaven from Father God. Easy decision when the Holy Spirit has been softening up the man’s heart.

We were pleased to baptize him along with several others on Passover evening. I thanked the Lord for His timing in this case: a baptism to remember.”

Praise the Lord for all He is doing in the prison systems through our ministry at Prison Alliance.
